This teenager on my tour got the thrill of a lifet This teenager on my tour got the thrill of a lifetime when she ran into one of her favorite Tik Tok influencers Dylan Mulvaney in front of The Plaza Hotel on our NYC in a Day Tour. I had no idea who she was but was impressed at how sweet and gracious she was.

The Harlem Alhambra Theater was built in 1905 and The Harlem Alhambra Theater was built in 1905 and opened as a vaudeville theater seating up to 1600. In later years it was converted into a movie theater.
In 1929 the top two floors became the Alhambra Ballroom and would host many of the Jazz Era greats, Duke Ellington, Billie Holiday and Bessy Smith to name a few. The ballroom fell into hard times during the 1960’s and sat empty for many years.

In 2003 it was restored and re-opened as an event space. In 2020 The Alhambra would file for bankruptcy due to the pandemic but has once again bounced back and is open for business.

I love this sculpture outside of Saint John The Di I love this sculpture outside of Saint John The Divine. It’s called “Homeless Jesus” by Timothy Schmalz. For me it is a reminder to not cast judgement and that the face of god can be seen in all. Something I need to remember when dealing with the stresses of living in NYC.

Spent a lovely day touring with these folks from G Spent a lovely day touring with these folks from Germany. Stopped here in SOHO to show off the Haughwout Building- 1857.

It originally housed Eder V. Haughwout's Emporium which sold fine china and silverware. Fine enough for the First Lady Mary Todd Lincoln who bought china here for the white house. The building also had the first passenger elevator in NYC, a steamed powered Otis hoister. It is one of the finest examples of Cast Iron architecture in NYC.

Took a student group tour out to Ellis Island this Took a student group tour out to Ellis Island this weekend. Every time I’m there I’m overwhelmed with the sacrifice and courage it took for my ancestors to make the journey to this country. They sat in this room behind me with hundreds of others waiting to hear their fate. Would they be allowed to share in the American dream of a better life or would they be sent back to the land in which they were being persecuted? Fortunately for Kassell Miller (whom my son is now named after) he was allowed to stay. His name and his wife
are now inscribed on the wall at Ellis Island along with thousands of others that made the same journey.

Sometimes you catch an angle of the city that just Sometimes you catch an angle of the city that just blows your mind. Here is The Peace Fountain at the Cathedral of Saint John The Divine. Designed by Greg Wyatt 1985-

It celebrates the triumph of good over evil. The archangel Michael slays satan. So many symbolic aspects to the statue but one of my favorites are the nine giraffes said to be among the most peaceful animals on the planet. One rests its head on the chest of Archangel Michael as he’s about to plunge his sword into the forces of evil. GO Michael GO!!💪

This is the historic Bossert Hotel in Brooklyn Hei This is the historic Bossert Hotel in Brooklyn Heights built in 1909. It was often referred to at The Waldorf Astoria of Brooklyn. It’s where The Brooklyn Dodgers would celebrate there only World Series Championship in 1955. It was purchased and used by the Jehovah’s Witness from 1983-2012. It is now being restored back to its original grandeur to open as a hotel again. The renovations are looking absolutely incredible.
